****This is a Campaign for CC: West Front depicting the epic struggle of the special tank detachment Tigerabteilung 102 and members of the 9th SS Panzer Division "Hohenstaufen" and 10th SS-Panzer division "Frundsberg" in the battle for Hill 112 in the Orne River valley area southwest of Caen, from 10 July to 26 July 1944. It is designed to be played solo as Germans.
This campaign replaces the campaign "Hammer and Anvil" under "Historical Campaigns". The name stays the same (and the date) in the selection screen. The only drawback is that you cannot play the original "Hammer and Anvil" [not that you ever were] after installing this one. If you wish you can move it to a "holding " folder before installing this one, so you may retrieve it later.
Although these actions were fought against Candian/British forces, allowances have to be made until the "all Brit" mods for West Front are completed. The computer tended to pick alot of British tanks during almost all of the playtesting, so it really wasn't a big distraction.
Historical background on Tigerabteilung 102 and the battle of Hill 112 is availiable in the file "Background:Hill 112" included in this zip. A small overview map .gif called "overmap" is also included to give you an idea of the location of this battle in relation to Caen. Maltot is highlighted. I looked for a nice military map of the area but couldn't find one.

Installing the Campaign:

First go into your Data/Campaign folder and DELETE the campaign file---"Hammer and Anvil"
Next, cut and paste the file "Hammer and Anvil" (included in this zip) into the Data/Campaigns folder.
Next, cut and paste the five files : "Scouting Maltot", "First Attack", "First Counter", "Second attack", and "Last Counter" (included in this zip) into the Data/Camp_Ops folder.
Save this "Read Me" and "Background:Hill 112" to a convenient location for later reference, if you wish.
The Campaign will now be avaliable to play under "Historical Campaigns"---"Hammer and Anvil---Hill 112" when you start the game. The dates listed (42-43) cannot be changed, but be assured the rarity is set correctly for July '44.

Be sure to read the Battle Briefings upon starting each day on each map. These Battle briefings contain important special rules and Requisition restrictions to make the game more "historical-like".

Recommended settings for this campaign are:
                            Difficulty----Veteran
                            Realism : Player-----100%....Grog
                                      Enemy------75%.....hollywood
                                           "always obey orders" checked
It is recommended to set the Timer to 20-30 min for this Campaign. This will stop the chance of an "endless wait" while on Defense. Remember that the timer cannot be changed after the start of the campaign....it will stay the same for every battle in the Campaign.
I also recommend using the "Hands Off the fire button" technique for your tanks. This merely means that you may not give your tanks any "FIRE" orders or check their LOS or range. They are perfectly capable of aquiring and engaging targets on their own and this cuts down on some of their "dominance" due to the small scale of CC maps (500X500 meters). The challenge is to put them into position to kill targets without micro-managing their fire disipline.
Renaming: Many players like to rename commanders or special units so as to better keep track of their exploits during a campaign. It also serves to give units a "personallity". Tigers of the SS-Tigerabteilung 102 were numbered using a three number system, such as 134, with the first # denoting the company and the rest the tank's own ID #. Tigers seen in photos bearing #'s begining with an "S" (for Schwere), such as S24, were Tigers permently attached to SS-Panzer Divisions of the II SS-Panzercorp and pre-date the actions represented here.
